After a phenomenal first day of 18.2 Crores nett in India, Satyameva Jayate dropped approx 40% on its second day which was expected. Yesterday was a national holiday and the movie got an extra boost which helped the movie to collect such magical numbers which were never seen before for the movie like Satyameva Jayate starring John Abraham. On its first Thursday, the morning occupancy for the movie was in the range of 25% which was a little better in the afternoon as well. The movie is expected to pick up in the evening and night shows. The movies maximum business is coming from mass centres means single screens.
As per trends in the morning and afternoon shows the collection of Thursday is coming in the range of 10-12 crores range. The drop will further continue on its third day which is also expected. This drop is not a reason a worry for Satyameva Jayate as it happened in the past as well when a big movie released on a national holiday and collected the biggest opening of all time in 2012. But the movie dropped heavily on its second and third day. But the movie picked up again on Saturday and Sunday. The movie proved to be a blockbuster hit despite the mixed review. We are talking about Ek Tha Tiger which opened with a record opening of 31 crores on the national holiday and it dropped to 16-14 crores on its second and third day.
So, this heavy drop of more than 40% is not a reason of worry for makers of Satyameva Jayate. As the movie response is positive in the mass centre, So the movie will pick up again on Saturday and Sunday. The movie needs to sustain normal only as it already on the winning side after getting such a massive opening which was never expected. The movie is getting footfalls close to Gold. Its box office number is 6-7 crores lower than Gold on its opening day but the footfalls are only 4-7% lower than Gold. The maximum revenue coming from single screens where the ticket prices are low that is why collections are a bit on the lower side compared to Gold. From the current scenario, it seems quite possible that Gold will be the biggest hit of John Abraham career.
