Manmarziyaan had an average first day at the ticket window. The movie got the positive review from critics as well as the audience. But the word of mouth helped a bit in the evening collection which was also a normal pick up from morning to evening. The movie had low occupancy of 10-15% in the morning shows which is not a good opening for sure. The movie collected 3.5 crores on its first day at the ticket window. Star cast like Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal after Sanju is a reasonably good star cast. So the openinng of 3.5 crores can not be consider a good opening.
The movie is directed by Anurag Kashyap who does not have a good track record as far as the box office collections are concerned. But Manmarziyaan is the most appreciated movie of Anurag if we look at the response from the public. The un-real scene in the movie sommewhere not acceptable among the Indian audience but that will not affect the movie if the story engagement is good. One time watch is enough for the movie to be successfull at the ticket window.
The movie need to grow really well on Saturday and Sunday. Then only a decent number will come on card at the end of the first weekend. Directed by Anurag Kashypa and produced by Phantom Films, Manmarziyaan got its worldwide release on 14th September.
Mitron was the another release which had very low occupancy across India. The movie had occupancy of 5-7% in the morning shows and it hardly had any jump in the afternoon and the evening shows. The movie collected 50 Lakhs at the ticket window. The movie need to grow really well if it wants to collect even average numbers at the ticket window in its first weekend.
Love Sonia was the third Bollywood release this week. The movie had the lowest opening among all three releases. The movie collected approx 30 lakhs at the ticket window on its first Friday.
