After a phenomenal first day, Gold dropped more than 50% on its second day which was expected. Yesterday was a national holiday and the movie got an extra boost which helped the movie to collect such magical numbers which were never seen before for any Akshay Kumar starrer. On its first Thursday, the morning occupancy for the movie was in the range of 30% which was consistent in the afternoon as well. The movie will pick up in the evening and night shows.
As per trends in the morning and afternoon shows the collection of Thursday is coming in the range of 11-13 crores range. The drop will further continue on its third day which is also normal. This drop is not a reason a worry for Gold as it happened in the past as well when a big movie released on a national holiday and collected the biggest opening of all time at that time. But the movie dropped heavily on its second and third day. But the movie picked up again on Saturday and Sunday. The movie proved to be a big hit despite the mixed review. We are talking about Ek Tha Tiger which opened with a record opening of 31 crores on the national holiday.
So, this heavy drop of more than 50% is not a reason of worry for both makers of Gold and the fans of Akshay Kumar. As the movie response is extremely positive, So the movie will pick up again on Saturday and Sunday. From the current scenario, it seems quite possible that Gold will be the biggest hit of Akshay Kumar career.
But this much drop of more than 50% always put the eye of trades on Monday. Monday sustainability is very important for the movie for a long run. So after an extended weekend, it will be interesting to see How much Gold will drop on Monday.
