Gold finally reached to the cinema houses on 15th August. The movie was released in 3400 screens in India alone. The morning occupancy of the movie was in the range of 60% average across India. Gold is exceptionally strong in north India because of the presence of Superstar Akshay Kumar. As it was a national holiday movie picked up really well in the afternoon shows. In the circuits like NCR, Mumbai, Punjab and Rajasthan the movie was either running housefull or above 85% occupancy. As the public reactions started coming out after one or two shows which were exceptionally good. Public reaction really worked for the movie. In the evening more than 80% shows were houseful in all the territory in North India.

On its First Day, Gold collected 24.7 Crores nett in India. It is the biggest opener for Akshay Kumar. The movie has an extended weekend of five days. So the movie could drop a little over Thursday after a big day which is normal as the first day was a national holiday. Director Reema Kagti also got her biggest opener and it will be her biggest hit also as her last big hit was Taalash which crossed 95 crores at the domestic market. Gold will easily surpass this number easily.
